This is an airfield with a long history. It was the training base for the pre-war German air force. Eventually a night fighter unit was based here and post-war US army aviation used the airfield. Today it houses the Deutsches Museum – Flugwerft Schleißheim.

The hangars pictured are of the period. The river is the Wurm Kanal that runs next to Dachau camp, a little further downstream.
